So, why is epoxy grout?

Epoxy grout is the combination of epoxy resins and a filler powder, which make it completely resistant to water and stains and a good durability. Epoxy grout then does not crack, shrink or discolor. With the above characteristics, epoxy grout is an ideal choice for wet areas (showers or outdoor) and high-traffic areas.

Besides, epoxy grout is resistant to harsh chemicals in cleaning products. So, it is really suitable to be used in kitchen splashbacks.

One more bonus, it requires no sealing thanks to its non-porous nature.

Meanwhile, traditional grout is made of a cement-based mix. It has none of epoxy grout characteristics. Instead, its major drawback is the porous nature of cement-based grout. It is undetectable even after it dries. The pores faciliate for the dirt and other outside elements to find their way into the grout. This results in stains and lets mold and mildew to embed itself into the grout. It also absorbs water easily.

However, price for epoxy grout itself is 5 times higher than the traditional one. What else? Epoxy grout is much more difficult to apply in comparison with the traditional grout. It takes much longer to apply and requires well-experienced and skillful tilers. Normally, it takes tilers much longer (3-4 times longer) to apply epoxy grout than the normal grout. You will need to pay more for labor costs.

Epoxy grout will cost you much larger investment. But trust me, it is WORTH!

If you don’t want to see your kitchen and bathroom or outdoor tiling look dull when grout flakes or discolors, epoxy grout is a fabulous option.

If you want to minimize leakage risks for your bathroom or ourdoor areas, epoxy grout is your answer.
